"I was asked to create an image of the effect of the Iraqi War on the people of La Jolla and to include religion, economics, patriotism and protest as subject matter. I searched the newspaper's photo archives for images that conveyed those themes and saturated them in Photoshop using reds and blues and created this 'Captain America' design. - LV
